Are y'all planning on gluing in some insulation board to replace the Styrofoam you're taking out? May want to measure the thickness of the old foam for a close-as-possible match-up. If you're putting the A/C unit back up there, you might consider constructing some additional roof beams to support that weight as well. Wood or metal will work if placed properly and matching the curve of the factory header beams. This looks to be a fun remodel.
