So do you actually heat up the door once applied for a tighter fit? Also how you did the wrap around the back would have been nice. I noticed a scuff on the bottom left hand corner.
Hey great work! Does the wood get damaged after removing the adhesive?
Do you have a pic of the back done too?
Cheers
What is the average material cost per door? Do you do both sides?
THIS IS SO AWESOME!! Because I'm renting and I hate all those generic brown cabinets!! This helps so much thnks 🙂
somehow magically makes the vinyl stick better….you're my fucking hero dude…….
I wonder if I can buy a cabinet door at Home Depot to practice first. 🙂
Can I put this on Formica cabinets and how much does a typical cabinet cost to wrap?
I love it
No on my cabinets the quality it great BUT ALL they stripes are going in the wrong direction would be better if stripes are uniform on both sides and again on top and bottom. Just saying. Think I might have gone for block all one colour. Great video though.
I’d definitely leave that to a professional!!
Its looks like too much work.
Thank you for this tutorial! I only found how to videos on how to apply contact paper on plain surfaces which is… why? Now I can try to do this project thanks to you!
What about cupboards with a curved pattern?
Not everybody will be able to do those edges
nice work my friend..
Hi i found in the past, if i had to do a mitre on fabric. I did it two ways. One, I first did the 45* cut on the one side. But not totally glue it down. Then i get the other piece, lay that down and lift up the first mitre then place on top. You can use that 45* as the line for cutting the other piece. And second, i over lapped the two sides, then did the 45* cut through the two pieces. Door looks great anyway.
Can this be easily removed after let’s say a year???
I did this using mack tack drawer liners in a light wood grain, in my first apartment 35+ years ago…was economical and looked amazing. Great way for a quick makeover on a budget. I'm sure you could find some beautiful designs now.
Great video !!!
hello is there a machine that can do this job? like a vaccum to fully cover all the sides of the cabinets?
thanks
Hey Randy,
Is this wrap process with the 3M wrap product the same technique/process that is used on the color coated MDF cabinet door panels that Ikea sells? I was looking at the accessories like the white filler strips and toe kick boards that the big box hardware stores sell for their "take and go" pre- assembled cabinets and looked at the back of the boards to discover a thin film sheet that looked like it was baked or ironed on leaving an inch of the film on the back at all four ends? Is this the same technique?
patterns do not connect correctly at the corners
Thanks! The overlapping corner cuts were great for achieving flush results.
Great video, wish all who post videos on YouTube took a gander at your first. Question; my cabinet doors have a raised panel in the center of the panel. Can you offer any advise on this?
Thanks,
Chris
Hi, great video. Why did you not do the back so to to fully wrap the door?
Excellent!
Great job Randy
And do you wrap the frames of the cabinets
Nice but do you also wrap the backs of the doors
Very nice
I finish kitchens for a living and I'm pretty sure this is less time consuming than some of the stuff I have to do. Some of the high end kitchens get a hand applied glaze and I'd honestly rather just wrap everything lol even a natural door like this still has to get sprayed with sealer and at least one coat of varnish plus sanding between coats. I bet if you get used to doing this it would take less time warping all the doors in a kitchen. This was awesome.
Class work there Randy.
I don't know a home owner that would cover good wooden cabinets. When refinishing or lacquering them looks way better then covering them.
Our builder used a laminate on the doors and drawer faces. They are peeling off. Any ideas how to repair or to remove the laminate?
safety glasses?
For a perfect mitre the corners should overlap and make one cut through both and remove excess material.
you need to put the credit for the artist's music you used without permission
Perfectly good wood ruined. Sorry, I loved the natural wood to begin with. I was just curious.
Every time I remove hard ware, I can't seem to put it back on correctly.
looks like a pain in the butt to me, just saying…
Can you please tell me what is the name of that paper that you put in the door and where to buy, i’m just about to finish my house and that’s a beautiful idea I love what you deal with that
That came out perfectly !!
All that work instead of 3 minutes with a paintbrush lol
