Tried to extract the old wheel bearing from the hub using the same tool as in the video, ended up snapping a wrench as the pressure was immense. I was also using a scaffold pole to no avail. solid in situ. Hammer time next.
Why the black shrouds for removal and then the silver ones for refitting the new? Thanks.
I've just put a link to this excellent video on the Brickyard forum alonside many other 'how to do's' but your security settings on youtube won't allow it to work. If you would rather it wasn't there I will delete it no problem but if you are happy can you have a look at your settings and see if third party links aren't allowed or something? 🙂
Transporterman (AKA T5 TDI)
Is it possible to change bearing by this tool on Touareg GP 2008 ?
how shitty is this design? I don't know why VW Audi cheaped out and made these press on style bearings when they could have used the later model style bolt in hub/bearing designs – so there's no pressing/pulling….The laborsome part on this sucks.
Спасибо!
Rebate?? Recess surely
Great vid thanks
Looks a good bit of kit, have you ever used it on a mk2 ford focus?
Very good video
Good info, Thanks for sharing.
Can you please tell me e bay item number please
All in all great video, but what happened to the abs sensor?
where did u buy the hub bearing from
Very clear working practice / instruction.
Are you doing that on a jack, without a stand?
Many thanks from Ukraine. Very helpful.
very good
Hello! I wanted to ask, when you take two black seats (around 9:00) you put them inside, but at the end, only one part falls out when you already have pressed the bearing in. So my question here is how do you take the other part out of the black seat or whatever it is called? In my car, it is sucked up, and impossible to take out.
like from Kazakhstan
Thank you so much for this video! Without it I would probably never had dared to attempt this on my own 🙂 Last saturday me and my friend changed the rear bearings for our 2WD vans/buses. First the left side for mine and then the right one for my friends. Only difference was that on my T5 we only removed the caliber without taking the pads off. Then on my friends T5 we only removed the disc while the brake caliber was on and fully intact/assembled. Only difficulty we had was when everything was finished and we couldn't get the one part of the installation tool to come out behind the hub. Quite a lot of hammering was needed. Next time have to try with lots of thick grease. Anyway thanks again!
Nice well done vid.
well lit.
good info and practices.(assuming axle stands were used ??/…lol)
Nice video. This looks like my next job on my T5
Nice to watch an old school mechanic doing a job right. Well done sir
hello there………what was the make of the bearing extractor kit in the red box?
thanks
Volvo bearing/hub assemblies come the same way. You called that tool a push plate? I've never seen one before.
thank you. it has been a great help.
if others don't have anything to say don't say it at all.
Please give me the name of the lubricant you used?
to finally seat the new bearing i would tap around the large black disc part with a soft drift when tightening
