Reflextix is non-conductive. Sure it would be better with dead space on both sides, but it's still adding R3. It says so right on the package. R3 for that thickness and weight is amazing. Van snobs need to read the package and quit perpetuating forum myths.
Hey guys, need some feedback please! I'm planning to insulate the ceiling of my cargo trailer which has rounded edges. Going to put in insulation panels flush with the studs but then i need some kind of wall paneling to hold it all in. I don't wan to deal with wood (weight, complication and cost) so was going to use relfectix as the ceiling paneling – I also like the silver color for the ceiling as the walls will be wood…sounds like it can't hurt my efforts and will do the trick ya? Or any other ideas? Thank you!
Can you say WHERE IS THE AIR GAP ??? Change the TITLE of this video to "HOW NOT TO INSULATE" anyone that thinks this is a educational video will get it wrong everytime.. I wonder how many fools will do this..
Christ, not only is the reflectix not properly installed, the rattletrap is way overdone, adding nothing but weight and cost. You only need to cover 1/3 of the surface, anything more has no additional effect. All this info is available on the products websites.
No prep re the science and safety of his install. Wrong method and adhesives and spray foam = volatiles. Idea may seem ok but execution is not correct fiberglass batt would have done it all. over a reflection not in contact with the metal. (Air bridged)
I used 3M spray adhesive to glue polyiso insulation to the metal ceiling but it fell off. Now the metal ceiling has adhesive film on it. Can I attach Rattle Trap to the ceiling with this film on or will it fall off?
You did a very good job! The inside looks excellent to start with. Why can't you show the whole truck outside, and long enough to get an idea of how big the truck is??? And why can't you or anyone say the length and width? I am shopping for what I will need, and need that info to keep in mind.
You need to glue, at least, 1/2 inch foam first and than relectix to prevent heat/cold penetration. its the biggest mistake you can make to just glue reflectix to walls. good luck.
Nice job and good video. How much did the sound deadening effect the noise in the van?? A quick comparison by taping on the van's roof before you started and again after you completed the job would have been nice. But overall, very nice job.. very clean.
So come on folks (I haven't read many posts on here!) Is there a video on here that shows up how it should be done? I need to do this SOOOOON so your help would be much appreciated. Mike
All that effort, time and money without the return. At least it's a tidy looking mistake.
Did adding this to your roof actually make can cooler

I made it by myself. I used woodprix woodworking plans for that.
well done
I bet you wish you didn't use so much Dynamat.
What did you use for insulation under the reflexics or did you use reflexics under another layer or am I very confused about everything here?
We have a Panel van which has musical group equipment in . Will this insulate against the damp we're getting in the back ?
Cheers!
y do u need both?? it's a waste!!!
your on your knees all the time sucking on meat cigrits, this van shouldn't be an issue for ya bud
Has the Reflectix insulated the van well from hot or cold?

so much criticism but no suggestions how to do a proper job?
Ya, this is how not to construct a van interior. The moisture build up is going to be bad…

Good Job.
Good job did my van the same way, but the cab as well
Also dude that roof tape is bad for your lungs.
Ghandi was a racist sooo not sure quoting him is all that great. Don't believe me look it up you are already on the internet
When too hot sun shines, roof's adhesive could be melt? Above +40C. What do you think?

Nice job buddy
lol U so neat about your work. My work is shabby & rushed.
did you put on Rattle Trap on First before you put on the Roof Reflectix insulation?

By putting aluminum strips it does not transit the heat inside the van, like a oven?

what timber did you use for the roof? (to attach ply to) I tried pine and it would not bend enough.
Go to woodprix if you'd like to build it yourself.
knee pads will save your knees.

Mike
Spray adhesive should not be breathed in wear a mask
I think, You need to take some time and go to woodprix website to learn how to make it.
I just bought the Reflectix for my Travel Trailer roof.
I am pretty sure you can find good solution on woodprix page 🙂
It's good to see you are doing it right. Too much info on the internet that is wrong.
nice way to fuck up a van, you do not know what the hell you are doing
What was the first material laid down?
What van is this?
hmmmm, rust, mold?
Hate music videos, tell us how you do it
nice job
what was the material that was applied to the roof prior to the reflectix….the sliver stuff that had the adhesive on the back…blue writing.
total cost?
