This 2014 Quarter Dome 2 model replaces the previous Quarter Dome T2. Rei has made some changes to materials and have made it more spacious and more lightweight. All in all it’s a great tent.

I've got a REI Quarter Dome 2 Plus, but it's only about 2 1/2 pounds. It looks the same as yours. My big complaint with the tent and it's a minor one is the poles. I would have liked a simpler pole setup. The zipper tends to get stuck to when you go to unzip or zip it up. I replace the tent bag right away. In fact I don't think I have ever used it. It's a nice tent. I use it for over night hiking and keeping my gear inside the tent.
Thank you for this video. I was looking for a lightweight 2 person tent, and always wanted to get this one. But, in 2017, they revised the design and raised the price from $279 to $349 (with another $50 for the footprint). So, I decided it was too expensive, and I was going to have to go with a 1 person. Well, this past week, REI put this tent on sale for 40% off – which allowed me to get the tent and footprint.
Is this version you demoed the pre-2017 version?
As for the "clapping", ignore all the silly comments…
God Bless, Ken
I feel like this video was made to share josh and his loud snoring to the world
LOL about that clapping thing. People are so ridiculous and seem to go out of their way to try to find things to be offended over. Thanks for the video! I'm tent shopping at the moment and this review really helps.
Thanks for the review. Cheers.
Thanks your great review! Does it durable?
Thanks for the great view! One of the best I've seen! Just scored one of these on clearance.
I don't want use a cheap tent the next time we go out west. This looks like a good possible option for a tent. The campsite will not have any trees so hammocks isn't an option. Our original plan was to go out west this summer, but our work schedules may push it back to next year. We are still hoping to do the RRG in May. Do you have any snow yet in your area?
Great vid! We have similar review styles. I subed!
Does it come with a footprint?
Hey Jason I know this video is old but how has the rei tent held up since you've had it?
tents and sleeping bags will come in larger bags if not you should get a larger bag for them so they have room to breath or not be compressed. A compression sack is only for when you need it to be small. If a sleeping bag is stored in a compression sack it will compress and destroy the R factor for warmth.
That's hilarious that people would be offended at your "clap on" appearance of your girlfriend. These are people that have never had to overcome ANYTHING of significance in their lives and just look for things to be offended by to show "moral superiority". When in reality they are showing they have ZERO sense of humor.
Anywho, thanks for the video. Just picked up the tent with MY girlfriend who claps to make me appear on the regular 😛
Great job on the review, just curious on what are the packed dimensions of tent poles and the tent body/rain fly if packed separately, in the instance one were to strap the tent poles outside of the pack and the body/fly inside of the pack?
That is a super long tent, even if you split them up and compress the tent and fly but you still have a really long set of poles to pack.
Keep up the great work my friend.
Thank you for quick response. You don't have any idea how much you're appreciated. I love you…even if you are from Pittsburgh, keep it up dude, like that Gary dude as well…yep, yep, yep, so cool. Keep it up, the Butch from Daytn
I can't tell you enough how much i enjoy your videos. Im not fortunate enough to GET OUT like you do but please allow me to indulge myself through your eyes. Thank you Jason,(Frozen).
Great review! I'm buying one
where do you get a 'clap clap' girl? xD
Great review.
Both my overnight tents are 2 man; but I am thinking of getting a 1 man 'freestanding'.
Would like to save of the weight… am still researching atm…
Shame that you needed to explain your editing… I got it.
Thanks for sharing
Cheers & atb
Thanks for the review, I just went to REI and got thet Quarter Dome 3 lol
oversites tentbags are always nice, it makes it easier to get the tent in it, special in wintertime, or when the tent is wet. ones again, a good review
LOL clap clap!
I have the one person version of this and have to say it is awesome (you can see my tent in action on my numerous bike trips on my flickr page:Â https://www.flickr.com/photos/blueberryarts/sets ) I have been using it since 2009 and it hasn't failed me yet. I can attest to it being good in high winds (from a sudden thunderstorm on the C&O) and heavy rain. Liked your review, very detailed. Keep up the good work man!
Radical redesign over the last model.
Great tent. Good, honest review. Wanted the T2 when it first came out, but I was too tall for it. Now that they lengthened it, it'll be tough to find an excuse not to get one. Subscribed.
thank god someone gets it. in the beginning of your review you use a nagelene bottle to show scale and size of the tent while packed up! for the love of god and all that is holy thank you! so so many so called reviews no one ever shows the packed up tent sack let alone a object to show scale of the size. The other thing is while inside your tent you use a wide angle lens on video camera and you truly can see what life is like with yourself inside the tent will be like. I have to say this is the best break down and review and display of a tent I have seen. my belief is every manufacture should send you their tents for you to review based on how well you did this review.
Thanks for the review, I learned how to set up my new tent without guessing. Will make its debut in a couple weeks at Kings Canyon NP.
Thumb down from your buddy Josh (who snores like a grizzly bear) for putting him on blast at 7:23 …or maybe from your girlfriend for being clapped at to appear and disappear…but thumb up from me for a good tent review.
I'm looking at this or the Cooper spur. I'm 6' 2". How's the room for someone my height.Â
I was looking at the Big Agnes Cooper Spur UL2. Then I saw this. I have a tarp tent but am looking for a little more room. Thanks for the review.
Thanks for the review – I got it at the anniversary sale too, though it was backordered from the website & it just arrived at my house! I was hoping for some tips on putting on the rainfly – some of the attachments seemed unusual (I've never had a backpacking tent) and the instructions were unclear. Any tips?
You're close to me, I do most of my backpacking and camping in PA. Thanks for the review. (Ohiopyle rocks!)
Nice review. I bought this a couple months ago too. You can return it, and buy it again to get the new price, and save yourself some $. When I asked about the price change the manager told me to do that, and it wasn't a problem.
Picking one up today for next weekend. Thanks for reviewing!
Nice review. One small correction. It weights 3 lbs, 9 oz (not 3.9 lbs).Â
I just picked one up recently.. What do you think of the rain fly fabric? I hope it's more durable than it looks. thanks again for the review.Â
Awesome review! Picking one up today!
