I’m on holiday. I have the tiny drone. I can’t sit on a beach, it’s just not me so I made this video about taking still photographs with the DJI Mavic Pro and I had a blast. Also, stick around for the first “Photo of the Week”.
If you’re thinking about buying one of these drones and this video has helped sway your decision, why not help me out and buy one via this link.

Wow, very cool video! Really nicely filmed and edited!
One Question Thomas. Where is everybody! 🙂
One of the things that puts me off drone photography is the potential to annoy other people. Drones still sound like a swarm of angry bees and most people seem wary of privacy issues. I enjoy Landscape Photography and especially in the early hours of the day when I am often on my own but these seem like the only realistic times when I would feel comfortable using a drone. We had one fly over our back garden recently and my wife was really annoyed by it.
Very detailed video.
You can take the Country out of the boy… BUT you can't take the boy out of the country! LOL!
Liking all your great and inspirational VLOGS!
You are proving that its not about the DESTINATION…
Its all about the JOURNEY!
Love the shirt! And, yes, everyone needs to come visit our bit of earth for some amazing landscape photography. When back in the state come visit us at Utah Valley University in the Digital Media Department.
Thomas, have you tried printing those images? And what size? If so, How do they turned out?
Why does everybody talk so much rubbish that has nothing to do with what they are trying to accomplish or the title of their video says,
Sorry its WAYYYYYYY more than you IF you are gonna complain about not being able to get a good photot in GREECE and the best shot you can think of is a bunch of Umbrellas on a gravel beach not to many people are going to think Holy crap look at them umbrellas, unless your a 3 year ol lil girl. But thanks for taking you rtime,to share.. just alot of gibberish in your video.
i would love to know what the name of the hotel was. I love the pools outside the rooms.
what is the difference between the still images quality taken from mavic drone and dslr camera?
I had no doubt the isle was "absolutely stOnning" love your channel Tom! keep it up!
Nice pack, Thomas! Love Lowepro's Tactical series 😉
woa.. gonna bring one mavic home this 2018. I promise. :p
actually i should of waited till video was finished….you answered my question in the video. But how large are the raw files?
are pictures in raw files or jpeg
Amazing video! You should view my aerial videos when you get chance and let me know what you think.
You show yourself too much instead of the landscape!
wait a second. i think i know where that image at the end is from. unless im wrong its taken right near where i live and it's called the sea cliff bridge in Australia just a bit north of a city called Wollongong
Why did you "sneak" it in your hand luggage ? Is it illegal to have in Greece?
number 1 : what was the name of that resort it looked beautiful , your own pool nice 🙂
2nd , getting my mavic today or tomorrow , so looking forward to it and cant wait for some calm days to go out recording and shooting with it
I liked and subbed. Thanks Thomas
That pic is sea cliff bridge from Australia I live locally to it kinda have heeps of them
I had to pay 7500€ cause i was flying in Croatia over the sea!!
The shuffled lounge chairs make it more interesting
Tom your antennas on the controller want to be vertical not horizontal to the ground . The signal is very much the same as your home broadband and expands horizontally while the antenna are vertical hence the 2 mile range , pointing them at the drone does not help the aircraft or your 4K footage or had recovery of of footage .
You will find it goes a lot farther for long shots , coming into land views ,hope this helps a bit

Begginer Mavic pro photography above the sea
A recent update to iOS has the ability to record the screen on your iPhone. Swipe up from the bottom to bring up the ?shortcut? screen. In the very lower right hand corner is the record button. Hit record. Then tap top of screen when complete.
are you using sharpness -1? (for the video)
hahaha sneaked the mavic jokes
Was this your first drone Tom?. And is the drone easy to fly. I am waiting on delivery of one and I have never flown one ever. Just wondered how you find it.
hey thomas, love your videos!! are you using a ND filter on your drone?
You got some great stuff, looks like you will be a natural at it in no time. I'm sure you have already but you can put it in sport mode and get it to go super top speed 55mph. The mavic is a little beast handles pretty well in the wind I normally top out at 15mph and don't fly in anything stronger than that. My dream is also to one day be able to travel to another country. I want to visit Australia one day. I would so smuggle my drone in with me hehe.
FYI You can record your screen now through iPhone .
The image with umbrellas and ocean Look like desktop screen on computer with icons lol.
** what settings have you found comfortable using for landscape?
Get a big drone and hang your dslr under it.
quality video Tom !!! i have one quick question , do you use any filters on your mavic ? XD
Thank! Thomas….,
Funny how I left a comment a few days ago to please do a vid on your drone… and POW it popped up on my YouTube! Awesome! Thanks!!!
Well done! One of the most engaging and well done Mavic Pro drone videos I've seen! Subscribed and thumbs up!
You should shoot in 4K on the mavic, it looks much less pixelated.
Great video as always. Greetings from Rhodos!
