In this video I go on a 3 day/2 night hammock camping trip with Scott to the Nordhouse Dunes Wilderness Area of the Manistee National Forest just off of Lake Michigan.
NOTE: This video was shot and exported in 720p by mistake. Sorry for the downgrade in resolution.
DAY 1: We arrived a little late so there is not much footage from day one. It took us a while to find a good camping spot. Once we finally got camp setup, we spent the rest of the evening processing wood and cooking steak!
DAY 2: We re-fill on water. I try sardines for the first time. We drink a couple good beers, whiskey, and scotch. We also got lost on a hiking trip but eventually found our way back.
DAY 3: We had a smoke catastrophe last night. I did not film it but I tell you about it while we make coffee and tear down camp. We also get a great shot of the hike out!
NOTE: This video has more commentary and less action shots than my previous videos.
All in all, the Nordhouse Dunes Wilderness Area of the Manistee National Forest is a great place to camp. There were zero bugs, decent amount of wildlife, and it was not too crowded. There is a campground to the North of the wilderness area for car camping if you are not into dispersed camping (or have your family with young children) that is right next to the wilderness area trail so you can still get the full experience.
